Trauma and Recovery

It isn’t easy to know how to move forward.

The distressing or frightening event you went through has left you feeling vulnerable.

What happened has left you feeling irritable, depressed, angry, or frightened.

Strong feelings and emotional outbursts are common these days – which you fear your loved ones will take personally.

These reactions are normal for someone who has been through a stressful experience and will subside in time, but it still leaves you feeling helpless.

Having support through this challenging time makes a big difference.

It isn’t easy to make sense of what occurred and accept what happened, but you want to feel better again, yet you don’t know where to begin. And maybe you doubt that you even can!

Friends and family try to help, only adding to the feelings of guilt and shame that were already there from the incident. Explaining your thoughts and emotions to friends and family feels like you’re becoming a burden to them.

Maybe even unintentionally, people can somehow make you feel like you’re to blame.

I’m sorry for what you had to experience.

No one should have to go through what you endured.

You so badly wish for this pain to disappear, and carrying around what happened and constantly feeling on alert to not let anything bad happen again takes so much energy.

Going back to life as it was before is what you want, but you have doubts because there isn’t a quick fix. Please know that your life can get better with time, self-care, and support from an expert who understands the complexities of trauma and recovery.

Hopefully, this is where my passion for helping others through their healing journey can help.

Dealing with the pain is hard work, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Let yourself process the thoughts and feelings with someone who can skillfully listen and hold with compassion the fullness of your emotions.

It’s important to know that you control the process. If it feels too overwhelming, we can pause at any time and restart when you’re ready. You get to be the designer of your roadmap to recovery and rest as I gently reflect on the recovery that has already taken place.

Because laughter is a beautiful antidote to stress, you’ll come to discover how warm smiles and laughter are intertwined perfectly into the sessions to help balance the process of diving deeper beneath the surface and learning to float downstream.

You might also find that I’ll suggest homework to try out in between sessions, including a balance of some alone time for self-care practices and uplifting socializing to help reduce stress levels.

Enter a safe harbor and start moving forward.

Let our work together serve as a safe place to allow your rawness and vulnerability to be expressed safely – in a place where it’s safe to throw out the facade and unrealistic expectations and let yourself face authentic emotions together.

As you learn new tools to challenge unwanted thoughts and memories, you’ll be able to feel less on edge, more connected to yourself and those around you, and become unlocked from the pain of your past.

It’s possible for life to become easier and the pain to recede. It takes time and a helping hand. Take my hand, and let’s take this journey together.
